2024 Teacher of the Year "Making IT Happen"

Purpose of Award:  This award is presented to a teacher from an OKSTE member district who exhibits exemplary integration of technology in the classroom teaching and learning process.

Criteria:  Teachers must model and apply the ISTE Teacher Standards as they design, implement, and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning, enrich professional practice, and provide models for students, colleagues, and the community.  See all criteria at:  https://www.iste.org/standards/for-educators

Award Winners:  OKSTE will choose 1 teacher who recognizes and integrates a wide variety of technology tools and strategies to enhance the learning experience of all students.

Application:  Applications must be received by 11:59 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024

Award:  Award recipient will be announced at the OKSTE 2024 conference in Tulsa on November 7. This person will receive a plaque and statewide recognition.

Part A:  Teacher Profile

The following information should be included as the first page of the application/nomination:

  • Applicant name
  • Application’s email address
  • Grade level(s) and/or subject(s) taught
  • Total number of years in teaching (in any state)
  • School site(s)
  • School district
  • School district address, including zip code
  • Superintendent’s name
  • Superintendent’s email address

Part B:  Nomination Statement

This should be a written statement or a video by an employee/representative of an OKSTE member district and should answer the following question:

  • Why should this person be awarded the OKSTE Teacher of the Year "Making IT Happen" Award?

Statement requirements:

  • no longer than 1,500 words/2 pages
  • Arial or Times New Roman
  • 10-12 point font

Video requirements:

  • should be 3-5 minutes
  • should not include any parties (including minors) without permission

Part C: Applicant's Resume or Curriculum Vitae

Must include:

            • professional experience
            • educational affiliations
            • other relevant information

Part D: Lesson

The lesson should describe a typical lesson in which technology is infused into both teaching and student learning. The lesson should align to both ISTE Student Standards <https://www.iste.org/standards/for-students> and current state standards.

Video requirements:

            • should be 5-7 minutes
            • technology infused into both teaching and student learning
            • should not include any parties (including minors) without permission

Part E: Still Images

Please upload four to five photographs of the leader interacting with students and/or educators while teaching. (The photographs may be used in print media or on the OKSTE website. A copy of a signed photography release from must be submitted as part of the submission materials.

Part F: Letters of Recommendation (optional)

Three letters of recommendation may be included in the application/nomination.
